Child photo session taken from home – Kildare Photographer

Some time ago I received an email from my sister’s friend who was looking for a photographer who specializes in children photography. I was delighted to hear from Martina who I have not seen for a very long time since we were children. She explained that she has a two year old son, James, who is a great little guy with blonde hair. She herself found it hard to get him to sit still or look at the camera, but maybe I could work my magic and get some nice shots of James. I suggested doing a child photo session at their home so that he feels comfortable in familiar surroundings.

Roll on to the day I met James. I kneeled down and introduced myself. He was very curious and sweet. Martina and I chatted for a while over coffee so that James could get used to seeing me around, wondering what I was doing there with my camera! James was dressed in blue jeans with braces and a blue shirt which matched his beautiful blue eyes. When it was time to start the job James’ mother told him that I was going to “Click, Click”. James looked at me and understood.

We took James to sit on the dark wooden stairs which compliment the colours of James. The minute he sat down, with the natural light behind me, he smiled and looked right at the camera. Click click…..we carried on. He continued smiling and laughing, posing in such a way that he certainly was not caring about what his mother’s worries!

After a little while we went upstairs and used the landing for more shots as it offered a neutral surrounding with more natural light. I asked James to sit down and he did so obediently. Next of all he decided to lean forward with his arm out as if he knew exactly how to pose! I looked at Martina and we just laughed at what he was doing. He was having fun. Click click and this time with his favourite polar bear soft toy beside him.

Few more shots were taken in the lounge. He wanted to sit by the window which I thought was a great idea. I watched him and photographed him while not asking him to look at the camera as I wanted to create the natural shots of a truely innocent child.
